June 05, 2006 12:08 PM Well, it's finally happened by Ian Spence

Visit a beta version of the new forums

The url isn't final of course (it's got alpha right in the name)

Styles and images are gonna change over the beta period.

I volunteered to do the importer, so pretty much everything is there. The one problem is that you're gonna see all your old PMs, because when you delete it, it only gets hidden until the other person deletes it

Any posts you make on there will be lost repeatedly, but I need you to test it, try to break stuff, tell me what you hate

May 14, 2006 12:55 PM The forums just got older! by Ian Spence

Wooo!

On a side note, I'm currently beta testing the new forums, which I think everyone should like. It's private for the moment, but as soon as I get the ok, you'll all be welcome to break it.

February 14, 2006 12:22 PM For Firefox 1.5 users... by Ian Spence

Anyone who's used Firefox 1.5, you've probably noticed that the memory usage has skyrocketed. Well, apparently there is an easy way to fix this, which is explained here.

For those who don't care about the backstory, and just want to save memory, do the following.
  • Open about:config via your address bar.
  • Type "browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers" into the bar at the top of the page, and a single option should be in the frame below. Change it from -1 to 0 to fix the problem, and you might have to restart firefox.

Some people have reported a 200MB drop in memory usage.

January 27, 2006 07:12 AM IanSpence.com - Now 3.2% more credible by Ian Spence

Was bored and was visiting a site that uses Silktide, and wanted to see how the site was doing (about a year ago I did this and got a 3.2, which wasn't good enough to a purty image). Apparently I also make disabled Britons cry
